NEUROLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

What is neurological Physiotherapy?

Neurological Physiotherapy is a Specialism within the field of Physiotherapy for clients suffering from neurological damage. Neurological damage occurs when there is damage to the brain or spinal cord.

A neurological injury can lead to physical impairments of the body's systems, resulting in difficulties or disorders of movement, sensation, balance, coordination, vision or muscle tone. The client can suffer pain, weakness, feel unsteady or clumsy and have reduced function. Often resulting in disability and the need for carers or increased help with day to day living and a consequential loss of independence and quality of life.

A Neurological Physiotherapist has skills in assessment and treatment of difficulties related to Neurological Damage. A Neurological Physiotherapist can help enable clients to manage their own symptoms, and improve their overall quality of life.

Neurological assessment will focus on an individual's movement, coordination, sensory awareness, balance, posture and any other limitation to participation in aspects of normal living.
